MANUAL HANDLING TECHNIQUES
Legislation: Health & Safety at Work (Jersey) Law 1989
UK: Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992
Consistently the highest reported accident at work each year is back injury, although hands, arms and feet are also at risk with poor lifting.
Training provides knowledge of the spinal anatomy, potential injuries, risk assessment, correct technique and avoidance through use of alternative methods.
Who should attend?
Ideally everyone should attend a basic technique course, though training is available to train a member of staff to then become the instructor themselves.
Companies that provide manual handling training:
The Jersey Safety Council
Jon Wilkins & Co
Mark Foley
Normandie Health & Safety
The Jersey Sports & Spinal Clinic
T-F Training
St John Ambulance
