ELECTRICAL SAFETY/ PORTABLE APPLIANCE TESTING

Legislation: The Health and Safety at Work (Jersey) Law 1989
Electricity at Work (Jersey) Regulations 1983, which control the generation, distribution and use of electricity.

Electrical equipment is commonly used incorrectly and all installations should be inspected and tested periodically by a competent electrician.

Should a company require someone to be competent in electrical appliance testing they can take a Portable Appliance Testing course which will give them the ability to use a PAT machine.  Course content for this should include basic terminology, inspections, labelling and recording and knowledge of legislation.
