Electricity at Work (Jersey) Regulations
A Cable Avoidance Tool detects underground cables before digging begins, thus avoiding unnecessary dangers, time lost and expense when a gas or electric cable may be cut through. The training course will give hands on experience with the equipment, care and maintenance and general legislation.
There are three types of Tool out on the market at present
CAT and Genny (registered with the CITB)

RD4000
Who should attend?
Anyone working with a CAT machine, and anyone responsible for the overseeing of the work.

CONTROL OF SUBSTANCES HAZARDOUS TO HEALTH (COSHH)
Legislation: Health & Safety At Work (Jersey) Law, 1989
The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health is an umbrella for a whole host of issues. Every company will have a CoSHH issue be it cleaning, hairdressing, motor vehicle repair or carpentry to name a few examples.
Dangerous substances are divided into four groups:
1. Chemicals used in manufacturing and processing.
2. Proprietary produces used in work activites—glueing, painting and cleaning.
3. Dusts & fumes that arise during work activies, eg soldering, welding, food preparation.
4. Natural substances such as blood or bacteria.
They also include substances that could cause harm to people from fire & explosions, eg petrol, LPG, paints & solvents.
Who should attend?
Anyone who will be working with CoSHH substances, training will provide appropriate knowledge and skills to make proper risk assessments and control measures prior to use.
